Messaging

Send email, SMS and WhatsApp messages to members, with templates, a message log and sending-account setup.

The Messaging page

Open Messaging under Communication. The top shows your usage: email is unlimited, and SMS comes with a monthly allowance based on your plan (1,000–5,000 texts) — you can buy more if you run out.

Sending a message

How to get there:MessagingEmail / SMS / WhatsApp
  1. 1Choose Email Message, SMS Message or WhatsApp Message.
  2. 2Pick who gets it: send to yourself as a test, to all members, or to specific groups or departments.
  3. 3Write your subject and message. You can link it to a service or event and attach files.
  4. 4Send. Members see it under My Messages in their portal, and in their email or phone.

The SMS composer works the same way.

Tip: Always send a test to yourself first, especially for a new template.

Templates and the message log

Save messages you send often as templates, with categories and tags, so anyone on the team can reuse them. The Message Log shows everything sent, to whom and when.

How to get there:MessagingTemplatesNew Template
The Templates tab: saved templates with categories.
  1. 1Open Messaging → Templates and select New Template.
  2. 2Give the template a name, pick a category and add tags so it's easy to find.
  3. 3Write the message body — the same editor as a normal email or SMS.
  4. 4Save. Anyone on the team can now reuse it.

To use a template, start a new message (email, SMS or WhatsApp) and pick the template — its text fills the message body, and you can still edit it before sending.

Configuration: connecting your sending accounts

Messaging → Configuration connects the services that actually deliver your messages: Twilio for SMS and WhatsApp, and SendGrid for email.

How to get there:MessagingConfiguration
  1. 1Open Messaging → Configuration.
  2. 2Paste your Twilio details for SMS and WhatsApp, and your SendGrid details for email.
  3. 3Set your church's own sender name and save.

Important: Set your own sender name — without it, emails go out from the system's default address instead of your church.
